Weaknesses

Placement of the Toy Lending Library

This is a great resource but as you can see in the image on the left it is very hard to see behind the tables.  These are also placed by the children's graphic novels and most customers would not think to look there for those items.

Small Language Collection

Caille Library includes DVDs, picturebooks, picture cd-books, and board books in their language collection.  However, the collection is small and there is not great signage indicating that the collection is available.  DVDs are not pictured here.

Their language collection also includes children's chapter books and non-fiction items.  These are all lumped together and that may deter customers searching for early learning items from looking in that area.

Limited Signage

They unfortunately had limited signage in the children's area for their programming.  There was this sign available next to the program room.  This covers their programming and the Wee Read and Play Games available in-house.  I think further advertising would be very helpful.

This library also does a reading program 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten for ages 0 - 5 and I didn't see any information about that.  I also didn't see any specific summer reading program promotions besides one or two Libraries Rock! logos, but there wasn't details about the program.  This information may be available at the desk or the bulletin board when you walk in, but it should also be displayed in the kids area.

There are also e-resources available for children and I didn't see any promotion of that material either.  Caille Library carries children's ebooks and customers have access to BookFLIX which is a wonderful service that animates and provides talking books for kids online.  These resources should be highlighted.
