I love the colors in this space.  There are plenty of options for both early learners and older children to exist in this area comfortably, including many reading areas for older siblings to escape to, while little ones discover their own books, or enjoy the play areas.

Caille encourages play by providing space entirely for children. The layout of resources flows well.  The taller shelves hold non-fiction, chapter books, and graphic novels, which makes it clear that they are for older children.  Shelving options for board books, media, easy readers, and picture books are easily viewable by toddlers.  They also have many items placed cover out which encourages children to look through them and grab titles that are visually appealing.

You will also notice there are empty coloful pipes that are along the children's area.  These are for kids to speak into and have the sound come out of on the other side of the room.  It was fun watching kids discover how these worked.

This library does a great job of encouraging children to read, write, talk, sing and play.  This is a strong focus of Siouxland Libraries and they have signage with this information and games available to encourage these skills.
