Great repetitive use of words.

A fun book with lots of colors. Simple one line per page helps with building beginning reading skills.

The Wonderful Things You Will Be
by Emily Winfield Martin
A wonderful example of loving and encouraging your child to be themselves. Nice cadence and rhyming for reading skills.

Writing
Elmore
by Holly Hobbie
Elmore is a porcupine that's all alone. He starts writing notes on trees to find friends. Have children draw these notes too.

Happy Dreamer
by Peter H. Reynolds
A lovely book about a child be willing to dream and go on adventures. Beautiful colors and children can trace the lines with their fingers.

A Squiggly Story
by Andrew Larsen and Mike Lowery
A fun book about a class helping a boy doodle and write a story of his own.

The Day the Crayons Quit
by Drey Daywalt
illustrated by Oliver Jeffers
A fun book about all crayons writing a letter to their owner with silly complaints.

The Word Collector

An excellent new book for 2018 where the main character writes down and collects new words that he hears.

Sing with Me

A collection of songs with actions. Great pictures and a great resource to sing-along.

We Are the Dinosaurs
by Laurie Berkner
illustrated by Ben Clanton
A very fun song by Laurie Berkner that has been put into story form. This is an excellent book to sing along to.

The Wheels on the Bus
Sing Along With Me!

A board book that encourages you to sing as you read along with the story.

Green
by Amanda Doerning
This book has music that goes along with it to download. I would recommend the library getting a picturebook with cd. Helps you to learn your colors by song.

Talking
Beautiful

Very few words on each page. Simple construction help children learn new words.

You're Babies First Word Will Be Dada

Great book for little ones just about to talk. Very simple with one word or animal sounds on each page.

Duck and Goose Colors!

Dear Girl,

This is currently my favorite book. It encourages girls to be exactly who they are and feel good about themselves and get out and play, act, sing or dance.

The Thing Lou Couldn't Do
by Ashley Spires
A great example of kids trying new things. Illustrates how it may appear that we have failed at something but it's actually an opportunity to learn and try again.

Pete the Kitty and the Groovy PLaydate
by Kim and James Dean
A great book that came out last month showing that playing is most fun when you share and include friends.

There's a Monster in
Your Book

A very fun interactive book that encourages play by having to shake the monster out of the book.

Let's Play

Another interactive book that encourages you to play. With fun simple colors, this book will keep your child engaged.
